The member-owners of food cooperatives are typically consumers, however some are worker-owned or share decision making among both workers and consumers. Most are visible in the natural foods segment of the sector but there is growing interest in the conventional foods sector as well. Rather than focusing on investors, food co-ops focus on their community and their members.
