Cooperatives are owned and controlled by its members. As such the governance model is unique among other types of business models.  Four groups must work together to ensure the effective functioning of the cooperative.

1. Members – elect the board of director
2. Board of Directors – set policy for the cooperative and hire and supervise management
3. Management – carry out the policies and hire and supervise employees
4. Employees – carry out activities to ensure successful operation of the cooperative
