General Co-op Resources
Cooperatives are owned and controlled by their members, making their governance model unique compared to other business structures. Four key groups must work together to ensure the cooperative operates effectively:
- Members – Elect the board of directors and participate in key decision-making.
- Board of Directors – Establish policies, provide strategic direction, and hire and oversee management.
- Management – Implement board policies, oversee daily operations, and hire and supervise employees.
- Employees – Execute tasks and services necessary for the cooperative’s success.
