According to Dominica’s Cooperative Development Division, cooperatives have existed here since the 1920s and today, Dominica has the most dynamic cooperative movement in the OECS. Government has long realized the very significant contribution which cooperatives make to the island’s growth.

September 1 constitutes the 50th anniversary of the Tibet Autonomous Region. To mark the occasion, ChinAfrica, Beijing Review 's sister publication, dispatched Hou Weili to compose a series of reports on the region and its people. What he found was a thriving cooperative culture.

In a show of what can be accomplished through collaboration, a consortium of corporate sponsors, credit union members and celebrities worked together with the credit unions to raise $757,837 to benefit Children's Miracle Network Hosptitals.

In a rather science fictional moment, the Expedition 44 crew members on the International Space Station are about to eat the very first space crops.

On Monday, a batch of red romaine lettuce will be harvested from the Veggie plant growth system on the ISS orbiting laboratory. Cosmically delicious.

A Northern Michigan program is designed to get girls thinking about a life of agriculture. A group of middle school girls are learning that, although farming is traditionally a man's world, women can farm too. Farming For Our Future launched it's first Girls Can Farm program at Pond Hill in Harbor Springs this week.

New government funding will boost the networks of eight rural Internet service providers, including five customer-owned ISPs in areas that aren't densely populated enough to attract major investments from big cable companies and telcos.  On Monday, the US Department of Agriculture announced the new loans and grants, totaling $85.8 million.
