Session Location:

A Capital Campaign can feel daunting and intimidating. If you’ve read Food Co-op Initiative’s Capital Campaign Workbook you may be wondering where to start. How on earth will we raise that much money? Green Top Grocery Owner Loan Campaign Chair, Katie Novak recently lead an effort to raise over $1.4 million in owner loans (and donations) and will share how she took the great information in the Tool Kit and created a system that works. You’ll learn exactly where to start, how to create your teams (yes! You need more than 1 team) and how to implement a system that generates results.

This session is geared towards co-ops planning a capital campaign in the next 6-18 months. Participants who have read the Capital Campaign Workbook (and yes, we mean cover to cover-- this is an excellent resource and a prerequisite for this session!) and reviewed the Green Top Grocery case study and webinars available on the FCI website will be ready to hit the ground running when they show up for this session!

Participants (ideally those co-op organizers who will be involved with the planning and implementation of your co-op’s capital campaign) will walk away from this session with:

  • The foundation & confidence to plan a successful capital campaign in your community
  • A preliminary capital campaign timeline for YOUR campaign
  • A preliminary capital campaign budget for YOUR campaign
