Funded by Non-Profits: Emerging Trends

Session date/time:
Sat, 3/2 -
2:00pm to 3:15pm
Workshop Track:

Non-profits have been founding startup food co-ops, especially in low income communities, for years now here and there, but it became a trend all over the country just in the past couple of years. What's different between a startup started by a steering committee of community members versus a non-profit? How are the leadership dynamics different? How does being started by a non-profit change the development model and how does it not? Food Co-op Initiative (FCI) has been working with many of these startups and will be sharing the patterns they see emerging from this new generation of non-profit initiated startups.
